HP Director was a software application that allowed users to perform a variety of functions with their HP devices. In 2004, Hewlett-Packard replaced the HP Director software with HP Solution Center. HP Solution Center is extremely similar to HP Director and allows users to scan photos and documents, transfer images from an HP digital camera, send faxes, or make copies in a few simple steps. Though you cannot download HP Director, you can easily download and install HP Solution Center on your PC and begin using many of the same features that HP Director offered.

Step 1

Go to the HP website and click on the "Support & Drivers" link, which is located near the search bar at the top of the page.

Step 2

Check the box next to "Download drivers and software" and enter the printer's product number. If you don't know the product number, you can locate it on the front of your printer.

Step 3

Select your HP device by clicking on the appropriate link.

Step 4

Select your operating system from the drop-down menu and click "Next." You will be asked to select an HP product download.

Step 5

Click on the "Driver -- Product Installation Software" link and select the "Full Feature" download for your printer. The "Full Feature" download includes the HP Solution Center software.

Step 6

Click on the "Download" button. When the "Downloads" window appears on the screen, click on the "Save File" button to begin downloading the software on your PC. The process will take several minutes to complete.

Step 7

Double-click on the executable file and click "OK" to begin installing HP Solution Center on your computer.
