How Do I Set Up Wireless Speakers to My Laptop?
By Elizabeth Chaplin
Nearly any type of wireless speakers can be used with a laptop computer. Laptops are mobile, so wireless speakers are very convenient. Wireless speakers use a transmitter to pick up electronic signals that transfer sound from a laptop to the speakers. There are two main types of wireless speakers, infrared and FM (radio signals). The most common type of wireless speaker is the FM, simply because it is more convenient with less interference. FM speakers typically have a 150- to 300-foot range.
Place the speakers in the desired area. Avoid areas that also contain baby monitors and some cordless phones, since these can cause interference. Some wireless speakers have a tuning option to fix interference problems.
Insert the transmitter into a USB port on the laptop.
Attach the receiver to the speakers with the speaker wire. Although a wire is needed to attach the receiver, no wires will be needed to attach the speakers to the computer.
Plug the AC adapter into the speakers, then into a wall outlet. Some wireless speakers also can be powered by batteries.
Power up the speakers by pressing the “On” button or by turning the volume dial.
