How do I Set Up an iPod Shuffle Without Set Up Assistant?
By Michelle Varsallona
The iTunes setup assistant appears when you connect a new iPod device to the computer for the first time. If you already know how to work an iPod and iTunes, you do not need to use the setup assistant when you first connect your iPod Shuffle. You can skip the assistant and manually set up iTunes and the Shuffle, and transfer your music to the new device.
Download iTunes from the Apple website (See Resources).
Connect your Shuffle to the computer using the iPod USB cable and open iTunes.
“Cancel” the assistant when it appears on the computer.
Give your Shuffle a name. Your Shuffle device will appear in the left task pane. Double-click the existing name to highlight it, and then change its name to what you want.
Add music from iTunes. Click “File” at the top and select “Add Folder to Library” to add groups of music or select “Add File to Library” to add one song at a time.
Set up your syncing options. Click on your device on the left and click the “Music” tab. Select “Sync Music” and if you want to sync the “Entire music library” or “Selected playlists, artists, etc.”
Return to the “Summary” tab and click “Sync” to sync your library with the Shuffle.
Click the “Eject” button next to the device name to safely remove the iPod after the sync is complete.
