How Do I Report iTunes Being Hacked?by Heather Laurent
Unfortunately for iTunes users, iTunes accounts are being hacked with increasing frequency every year. Reasons for the higher number of breached security complaints include the introduction of iTunes applications. A small minority of developers create rogue applications that occasionally bypass Apple security. The developer can use the application to access your account information. If you believe that your account has been hacked, report it immediately to Apple.
Go to the iTunes support website at apple.com/support/itunes.
Select "iTunes Store Account and Billing" under "Get Customer Service." Click on the "Email Us" button that appears to the right of the menu panel.
Enter your information in the appropriate text fields including your name, Apple ID and email address. Specify which operating system and iTunes version you are using. Select your country from the drop-down menu.
Choose "I think someone is trying to access my account" from the Specific Request drop-down menu. Click anywhere in the "Details About the Issue" text field. Type a full description of the security breach. Be as specific as possible. Include the date that the suspicious activity occurred and any emails that you may have received from Apple, as they may be scam-related.
Click "Send" to submit your report to Apple. A customer service representative will contact you within 24 hours.
- If you believe that your account has been hacked, change your password immediately.
