How Do I Upload Photos From My PC to My Digital Photo Frame?

by Nick Davis

Changing, deleting and uploading photos to your digital photo frame is not a challenging task. Digital photo frames come equipped with a number of ways of uploading your favorite photos from your PC to the photo device. These methods include using the photo frame's Universal Serial Bus (USB) port, or the device's Secured Digital (SD) slot using a SD memory card. If using the SD method, you can load multiple SD cards with photos and change them out whenever you want.

USB Uploading

1

Turn on the digital photo frame.

2

Plug the USB cable that came with your digital photo frame into the “USB” port on the side of the frame.

3

Plug the other end of the USB cable into any available USB port on your computer. Your computer will recognize the digital photo frame and assign it a drive letter.

4

Click “Start,” “My Computer.” Double-click on the digital photo frame's icon.

5

Navigate to “My Pictures” or another folder containing the pictures you want to upload.

6

Click “Edit,” “Select All,” to select all the photos in the folder, or select the pictures you want to copy by pressing and holding the “CTRL” key and clicking on the photos you want.

7

Click “Edit,” “Copy.”

8

Switch to the digital photo frame's open dialog box.

9

Click “Edit,” “Paste.” The selected photos are now uploaded.

10

Click on the arrow icon on your computer's System Tray (by the clock). The “Safely Remove Hardware” dialog box will open.

11

Click on name of your digital photo frame listed under the heading “Hardware devices.” Click “Stop” to disconnect the device from your computer.

12

Disconnect the USB cable from both your computer and the digital photo frame.

SD Memory Card Uploading

1

Insert an SD memory card, compatible with your digital photo frame, into a memory card reader.

2

Insert the memory card reader into any available USB port on your computer. Your computer will recognize the memory card reader and assign it a drive letter.

3

Click “Start,” “My Computer.” Double-click on the memory card reader's icon.

4

Complete Steps 5 through 9 from Section 1.

5

Click on the arrow icon on your computer's System Tray (by the clock). The “Safely Remove Hardware” dialog box will open.

6

Click on name of the memory card reader listed under the heading “Hardware devices.” Click “Stop” to disconnect the reader from your computer.

7

Disconnect the memory card reader from your computer.

8

Remove the memory card from the reader.

9

Insert the memory card into the SD slot on the side of the digital photo frame. Turn on the photo frame to view the photos.

Tips

  • Your digital photos must be in JPEG format before the files can be uploaded to your digital photo frame. To check a file's extension, right click on the file's name. Select “Properties.” The file type will be listed on the “General” tab next to the wording “Type of file.”
  • If your digital photo frame came with a photo uploading program and you loaded it on to your computer, the program will automatically run when you connect the USB cable to the photo frame and your computer. Use the digital photo frame's program to upload photos to the device, if you want.
