How to Do the Paragraph Symbol on the Computer

A paragraph symbol, ¶, also called a pilcrow, is used in editing to show where a new paragraph should start. A paragraph symbol is also used in certain forms of citations to cite to one particular paragraph. Both PCs and Macs can make multiple symbols by pressing some keys on the keyboard.
Paragraph Symbol on a PC
Press the "Num Lock" key, which allows you to use the numeric keypad on the right side of the keyboard.
Click the cursor on a page where you want the paragraph symbol to be inserted.
Press "Alt" while simultaneously pressing "2" and "0" on the numeric keypad. Release the keys. The paragraph symbol will appear where the cursor is located.
Paragraph Symbol on a Mac
Click the cursor on a page where you want the paragraph symbol to be inserted.
Press "option" and "7" simultaneously.
Release the keys. The paragraph symbol will appear where the cursor is located.
