How Do I Get to the IMVU Cache?
By Si Kingston
Although avatars are the mainstay of the IMVU application, they clog the IMVU system. Each avatar requires lots of different image files. Each file component is cached, or hidden away, so when the computer requests the data in the future it can be gathered faster. A large cache can cause the application not to operate correctly or to be slower than normal. Clearing the IMVU cache will remove these unnecessary files from the application. The cache can be cleared in Windows or in the IMVU client.
Control Panel
Close out IMVU. You can't clear the cache with the application open.
Click on the desktop "Start" button and select the "Control Panel" in Windows 7 or Vista.
Select "Tools" and choose "Folder Options."
Click the "View" tab in Folder Options.
Select "Show Hidden Files, Folders and Drivers."
Click "Apply" and "OK."
Return to the desktop "Start" menu and select "Computer."
Double-click on the "C" drive and click on "Users" or your computer name.
Click on the "AppData" folder, then click on "Roaming."
Select the "IMVU" folder. Navigate toward the bottom of the IMVU folder, check the "productInfoCache.db" and "productAuto.pickle."
Right-click and select "Delete." Click "Yes" to verify. The IMVU cache will be cleared.
IMVU
Open IMVU and click "Help" in the IMVU Messenger window.
Select "Tools" and choose the "Clear IMVU Cache" option.
Close the IMVU 3-D window when prompted and then press "OK."
