How Do You Fix Fading Color on Your Computer Screen?

By Chad Buleen

You can fix fading colors that appear on your computer screen in the same way that you would fix shadowing, streaking or off-center pictures that appear on your computer--by using your computer's auto-adjustment feature. While the names and functions of buttons on a computer may vary from one to the next, the general process you follow to fix fading color on a computer screen remains the same.

Without a CD

Step 1

Turn your monitor on. It should be on for at least 20 minutes before you continue.

Step 2

Press the "Auto/Select" button on the front of your computer's monitor. The screen will be wavy while the adjustment happens. When the screen stops being wavy, the faded colors should no longer be visible.

Step 3

Press the "Menu" button on the computer screen if the process described in Step 2 does not work.

Step 4

Select "Image Control."

Select "Auto Adjustment" from the on-screen menu. Wait while the computer screen adjusts. The fading colors should no longer be visible.

With a CD

Step 1

Insert the monitor driver CD into your computer's disc drive.

Step 2

Select the language you want to use from the "Language" list when it appears.

Step 3

Select "Open Auto-Adjustment Software."

Press the "Auto/Select" button on your monitor to adjust the screen so the fading colors no longer appear.
