How Do I Download iTunes on My iPad?

by Nicole Vulcan

In 2011, the iPad is so new, it may take getting used to how the device operates. Since iTunes comes standard on iPads and is the program through which you will perform many of the functions of your new device -- essentially serving as the "home" for your activities on the iPad -- you will need to get the program up and running as soon as you get your device. To do this, you will need to chose a home computer to sync with the iPad.

Turn on your iPad by pressing the black power button, touching the screen or by removing the Smart Cover.

Connect the USB cable that came with your iPad to your home computer and to your iPad.

Open iTunes on your home computer. Under "Devices" on the left hand side of your home computer's iTunes menu. This should open a "Set up your iPad" screen.

Agree to the Terms and Conditions for the use of the iPad and give your iPad a name. Then decide which files -- including music and photos -- you want to sync between your home computer and your iPad and click "Done."

  • check If you have a lot of music stored on your home computers' iTunes library, consider unchecking the "Automatically add songs to my iPad" box during the setup process, so you don't store all your music on your iPad.
