If you are a Cablevision customer and you want to disconnect your service, you can cancel your account by calling Cablevision's customer service department. Cablevision requires you to return all equipment, including cable boxes and remote controls, to a local Cablevision store.
Call the Cablevision customer service department at 866-575-8000. Tell the customer service representative that you would like to disconnect your Cablevision television service. The customer service representative will verify the ownership of the account by asking you several security questions, such as your name and phone number. Cablevision can cancel your television service immediately or on a specific date in the future.
Disconnect all cable boxes from your television. Unplug the cable boxes and disconnect the coaxial cable by rotating the cable's connection in a counterclockwise motion.
Go to an Optimum store. Cablevision offers several retail stores in local markets. Return the cable boxes and remote controls. Ask for a receipt that verifies you have returned the cable boxes and remote controls.
Pay your final bill. You should receive your final bill from Cablevision within 30 days of canceling your service.
