Disabling the Display Captions on a Sony Bravia
By Tyson Cliffton
Sony Bravia TVs let you enable closed captioning for digital and analog content, and give you a variety of display options for viewing those closed captions, such as positioning and color. If closed captioning is no longer necessary, or if the text becomes an eyesore, you can disable all closed captioning through the TV's main menu. This only affects the closed captioning for channels pulled in over the air and doesn't affect any closed captioning that's enabled on other devices such as Blu-ray players or gaming consoles.
Step 1
Press "Menu" on the Sony Bravia remote control to open the main menu on the TV screen.
Step 2
Select "Preferences."
Step 3
Highlight "Closed Captions (CC)" and press the "+" button until this option is set to "OFF." Closed captions will no longer be displayed on the Sony Bravia TV.
