When purchasing a phone you want to make sure you know what you are getting. If you have a phone you like but don't know the make or model of the phone you can determine this by looking up the Serial or IMEI numbers. In Motorola phones, dial a special number to get this information and then enter it into a phone database to retrieve the model name.
Step 1
Dial *#06# in the phone and press the "Send" button. The phone sends back the serial and IMEI information.
Step 2
Enter the Serial/MSN or the IMEI number into the "Identify Your Mobile Phone" website in the corresponding text boxes (link in Resources).
Step 3
Click the "Search" button.
Note the model of the phone. This is your Motorola phone type.
