How to Upgrade a Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset
By Ruri Ranbe
The Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset allows the motherboard to display graphics without requiring an external graphics card. The Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset includes the Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100. The chipset also supports an Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processor and up to 4GB of dual-channel DDR2 RAM.
The Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset is integrated into the motherboard, so you cannot upgrade the chipset directly without replacing the motherboard. You can, however, upgrade the device driver, which can improve the performance of the chipset, as well as add new features.
Navigate to the Intel website. Point to "Support." Click "Drivers and Downloads" from the menu.
Choose "Graphics" from the options in "Select a product family." Select "Laptop graphics controllers" as the product line.
Click "Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family." Choose your operating system from the options.
Click "Drivers." Select the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator driver with a status of "Latest."
Click "Download." Save the file to your desktop. Double-click the EXE file and follow the on-screen instructions to update the driver.
