How to Delete Backgrounds & Screen Savers on Computers
By Marie Lowe
Windows stores its backgrounds and screen savers in different folders across the system. Screen-saver files are installed as components of Windows, and register with the system before they are displayed to the user, while backgrounds are files stored in directories that Windows reads for its background information. Delete both screen savers and backgrounds from within Windows 7.
Remove Screen Saver
Step 1
Open the "Start" menu.
Step 2
Click "Control Panel."
Step 3
Click "Programs."
Step 4
Click "Programs and Features."
Step 5
Click the name of your screen saver from the list of features.
Step 6
Click "Uninstall." Your screen saver automatically uninstalls.
Delete Backgrounds
Step 1
Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the directory containing the background image you would like to delete. By default, Windows reads from the "My Pictures" folder for its images.
Step 2
Right-click the image you would like to erase from the background image library. Click "Delete."
Step 3
Click "Yes" to confirm the action.
