How to Delete an App From a PC

by Joshua Phillips

In Windows 8, applications differ in a few ways from traditional programs. Windows 8 apps use the full power of the Windows 8 interface and take advantage of a touchscreen in ways that normal programs do not. In addition, apps are available from your Windows 8 Start screen, ready to launch at the click or press of a button. Apps do not show up in the "Uninstall and Change A Program" list; instead, you must uninstall an app directly from the Start screen.

Right-click the app on the Start screen if using a mouse, or swipe down on the app if using a touchscreen.

Select "Uninstall" from the menu at the bottom of the screen.

Click or tap "Uninstall" from the pop-up window. The app immediately disappears as Windows 8 uninstalls it in the background.

  • check To uninstall a program, use the "Uninstall or Change A Program" tool, found within the Control Panel, similar to past versions of Windows.
