How to Create a VBE File

by TS Jordan

A VBE file is a standard visual basic (VBS) file that has been encrypted. This will prevent unauthorized users from accessing the source code information in the file, keeping your intellectual property safe from hackers and data thieves. This can be accomplished using the Script Encoder software from Microsoft, which is a free download to supplement your Visual Basic program.

Step 1

Click on the page in Resources and download the Script Encoder. Save the file to your desktop.

Step 2

Double click on the downloaded file and follow the onscreen instructions to install it to your computer.

Step 3

Open "Start," click "Run," and type in "SRCENC vbsfile vbefile" and press "Enter," where "vbsfile" is the name of the file being encoded and "vbefile" is the desired name you wish to give to the encoded file.

Press "Enter" to encode the file.
