How to Create a New Username for Your Yahoo Email Account (4 Steps)
By Joshua Phillips
Your username on your Yahoo email account can describe two different facets of the account: the Yahoo ID that appears before the "@" symbol, such as "[email protected]," or the display name that will appear alongside your message to let the recipient know who sent it. There is no way to edit or change your Yahoo ID without making an entirely new account; however, you can change your display name from the Yahoo Mail website. For example, you can change your current display name, "Johnny Doe," to a more professional-sounding "Jonathan M. Doe," or vice versa.
Step 1
Sign in to your Yahoo Mail account on your Internet browser.
Step 2
Click the "Gear" icon in the upper right corner, and click "Mail Options" from the menu.
Step 3
Click "Mail Accounts" from the menu on the left side of the screen, and then click the account whose outgoing name you want to change.
Step 4
Type your new display name in the "Sending Name" box, and click "Save" to save your new name.
