How to Create a Google Docs Template

by KR Knowlin

The Google Documents application allows you to compose spreadsheets, tables, presentations and word processing documents from the convenience of your favorite Web browser. Like traditional desktop word processing programs, Google Documents also allows you to create templates. When you create a template in Google Documents, it is submitted to the Google Documents public template gallery. Other users will be able to view and use your template.

Log in to Gmail and open your Google Docs application.

Hover your cursor over the document you want to submit as a template. An "Actions" button appears.

Click the "Actions" button to view its drop-down menu.

Select "Submit to Template Gallery" from the list of drop-down options. An Internet browser window opens.

Enter a brief description of your submission and select a category.

Click the "Submit Template" button to submit the template. Click the "Cancel" button to abort the operation.
