How to Create Elevations in Visio
By Paul Higgins
Microsoft's Visio program allows you to create complex drawings and diagrams. The elevation view is a special Visio feature that lets you organize items in a drawing according to their actual physical size. This allows you, for example, to visualize how many items a cabinet or a rack can contain. Create an elevation drawing in Visio by following a specific procedure.
Select the "Elevation view" tab at the bottom of the right-hand drawing pane.
Drag the items you wish to add to your drawing from the left-hand pane's "Project DataMatrix" category to the right-hand drawing pane.
Position the items by dragging them on the screen. Use the "Bring to front" and "Send to back" buttons in the Visio toolbar to make the selected items appear behind or in front of the other items in the drawing pane.
Click "File" and select "Save" to save your drawing.
