How to Create a Countdown Timer for Forum Signatures
By Erin McManaway
A “forum signature” consists of text or images displayed under each of your posts on a forum. You can add a free countdown timer in your signature to highlight an upcoming event. Some websites provide generators that allow you to customize your timer, and you can copy and paste the generated code into your signature. The timer style you can use depends on whether the forum allows HTML code or only BBCode in the forum signatures.
HTML Countdown Timer
Step 1
Open your browser and navigate to a timer creation site, such as TimeandDate’s Free Countdown Timer or Countdown Generator on Satisfaction.com.
Step 2
Type the date of your event into the text boxes or use the drop-down menus.
Step 3
Customize your timer based on the design options available on the site. You can choose different backgrounds, fonts and text colors.
Step 4
Highlight the HTML code, right-click and select “Copy” from the menu.
Step 5
Navigate to the signature section of your forum account settings. Right-click in the “Signature” text box and select “Paste.”
Step 6
Save the changes to your forum signature to view your countdown timer.
BBCode Countdown Timer
Step 1
Navigate to the Countdown Clocks page on the 7is7.com website.
Step 2
Customize your timer by typing in the text boxes and selecting design options from the drop-down menus.
Step 3
Click the “Generate BBCode” button at the bottom of the page. The BBCode will appear in a text box.
Step 4
