How to Convert RAM Files to MP3 Format
By Greyson Ferguson
A RAM file---not to be confused with Random Access Memory---is a video file typically used by the Real Media player and Real networks. However, outside of the Real Media player you aren't going to find many other programs that play the files. Because of this, you should convert the RAM file to something more widely accepted, such as an MP3 audio file.
Download a free converter program such as Switch Audio File Converter (see Resources). These programs convert RAM to MP3 and all function in exactly the same way.
Download one of the conversion programs, then double-click the downloaded file and follow the prompts to install the software.
Launch the software---found in the Start menu under "All Programs," and listed by program name.
Select "Add Files" and choose the RAM file you want to convert. You can also click and drag the RAM file into the main viewing window of the converter.
Click the "Convert To" option and select "MP3."
Choose a location you want to save the converted file to, then click "Convert" and the RAM file converts to MP3.
