How to Convert PDF Files to Fast Web View

By Art Corvelay

PDF is the proprietary format developed by Adobe and stands for "portable document format." PDF files are widely used because the formatting and styles of a document are embedded within the document itself. This means that the document will look the same regardless of the computer being used to view the document. Fast web view is a feature that Adobe Acrobat provides that allows for a PDF document to be downloaded one page at a time. This allows for faster web viewing because the user does not need to download the entire document. You can convert a PDF document to a fast web view format using Adobe Acrobat Professional.

Step 1

Launch Adobe Acrobat Professional and open the PDF you want to convert to fast web view. Click "File" and then "Open." Select the file from your computer.

Step 2

Click "Edit" followed by "Preferences" if you are using a Windows computer. If you are on a Mac computer, click "Acrobat" followed by "Preferences."

Step 3

Click on "Documents" under the "Categories" field. This should be the second item displayed in the left-hand column.

Step 4

Click the check box next to "Save as optimizes for fast web view." This is located in the "Save Settings" field. Click "Ok" to save your changes.

Step 5

Click "File" and then "Save as." Select the same file name and location as the original file.

Step 6

Click "Ok." A message will appear asking if you want to replace the existing file. Click "Replace" and the PDF will be enabled for fast web view.
