How to Convert WMA to MP3 Free on a Mac OS X

WMA, or Windows Media Audio, is a popular audio format on PCs. However, Macs don’t really use WMA files very often. The files canbe played on a Mac computer, but only in QuickTime. If you want to listen to a WMA on a Mac, you can’t use iTunes unless you convert the WMA file to a MP3 file. Unfortunately, iTunes does not do this for you, but there is a third-party program, freeware called All2MP3, that will. With All2MP3, you can convert WMA to MP3 for free on in Mac OS X.


Download and intall All2MP3 (see "Resources"). Open the program once it is installed


Select any WMA files you want to convert to MP3 and drag and drop them into the All2MP3 window.


Select the quality of the MP3, from "Less," "Medium," "Good" and "Super" using the slider bar.


Press "Convert" to convert the WMA to MP3 on your Mac for free. A new window will appear with a progress bar. Once the progress bar is full, the conversion is complete. The MP3 files will be in the same location the WMA files were previously.


  • check Select Trash Files if you want All2MP3 to throw the WMA files in the Trash once the conversion is finished.


  • close Do not Trash the WMA files if you wish to keep them on your Mac.
