How to Convert MOD Files to Mpeg

by Jamie Lisse

MOD files are video files that are created by camcorders. They are not compatible with too many things and need to be converted into another video format to be used with most programs and devices. If you have some MOD files, you can convert them to MPEG video files with a video converter program that supports MOD input files. The AVS Video Converter is a converter that supports MOD to MPEG conversion and is popular on the CNET Download Center. You can use the AVS Video Converter to quickly and easily do your MOD to MPEG file conversion.

Get the AVS Video Converter from the CNET Download Center. Download and install it to your computer. It is a free download, and there is a free trial period. After that you will need to pay to keep the software (2009 software price: $39).

Find the area of the screen that reads "Input File Name." There will be a "Browse" button by that field that you can click to select the MOD files that you want to convert.

Select your output file type on the toolbar. To do MOD to MPEG, you will need to click the "To MPEG" button.

Find the field by "Output File Name." Click the "Browse" button by this area to select the destination for the converted MPEG files on your computer.

Look in the lower left of the screen for the "Convert Now" button. Click this to convert MOD to MPEG, and the progress bar beside it will fill as the files convert. Once it completes, you will get a pop-up and should click "OK." You can use the new files, which will be in the location you selected as their destination.
