How to Convert MBP to Text

by Matt Milano

Support for Mobipocket e-book reader software ended in 2011 but it was once a widely-used format for e-books. Identified by the MBP file extension, Mobipocket files work on reader software designed for Linux, Mac OS X and Windows operating systems. Convert old Mobipocket files into plain text files if you want to edit or read them on the latest tablet PCs and some e-reader devices.

1

Download and install the free Calibre application. Launch Calibre when the installation is complete.

2

Click the **Add** button in the upper-left corner and navigate to the Mobipocket file you want to convert. Select it and click **Open**.

3

Click the **Convert** button. Click the **Output Format** pop-up menu in the upper-right corner of the conversion dialog screen and select **TXT**. Click **OK** to complete the conversion.

4

Right-click the e-book after the conversion is done, and select **Open Containing Folder** to view the plain text version of the e-book.

Tip

  • Calibre also converts between PDF, Word, HTML and Epub formats.
