How to Convert MBP to Text

By Matt Milano

Support for Mobipocket e-book reader software ended in 2011 but it was once a widely-used format for e-books. Identified by the MBP file extension, Mobipocket files work on reader software designed for Linux, Mac OS X and Windows operating systems. Convert old Mobipocket files into plain text files if you want to edit or read them on the latest tablet PCs and some e-reader devices.

Step 1

Download and install the free Calibre application. Launch Calibre when the installation is complete.

Step 2

Click the Add button in the upper-left corner and navigate to the Mobipocket file you want to convert. Select it and click Open.

Step 3

Click the Convert button. Click the Output Format pop-up menu in the upper-right corner of the conversion dialog screen and select TXT. Click OK to complete the conversion.

Step 4

Right-click the e-book after the conversion is done, and select Open Containing Folder to view the plain text version of the e-book.
