How to Connect a TV Converter Box to an Apple TVby Richard Asmus
Apple TV works in conjunction with your Internet connection to allow you to stream any of the services available in Apple's iTunes store directly to your HDTV. Your TV converter box, meanwhile, can receive signals from cable, satellites or from the air. To connect your Apple TV to your TV converter box, you must have Internet service provided by your TV cable company. If not, connect your Apple TV to your Internet connection and then to a vacant HDMI or Composite video port on your HDTV.
Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the converter box.
Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into your Apple TV box.
Connect one end of the HDMI cable to the output of the Apple TV box, and connect the other end to the vacant port on the HDTV.
- If you have Internet service provided by any method other than your TV provider, connect your Apple TV directly to it. Then connect your Apple TV to an open port on your HDTV.
- You may also use a wireless Internet connection to your Apple TV.
- Apple TV must be used in conjunction with a standalone HD TV set. It does not have a screen of its own.
