How to Connect to Receive a Netflix Stream

Netflix began as a DVD-by-mail rental service, but has since branched out to provide movies and TV shows to members through streaming video. Netflix's Watch Instantly section features thousands of titles that can be streamed directly to any computer or Netflix-ready device connected to a high-speed Internet connection. Before you can connect to receive a Netflix video stream, you will need to log into your paid Netflix account and install the free Microsoft Silverlight plugin.

Open your Internet browser and visit

Log into your Netflix account. If you do not have a Netflix account, you will need to register for one before you can receive Netflix streaming video.

Click the "Watch Instantly" tab on the Netflix main page.

Browse through the movies and TV shows available as streaming video through Netflix Watch Instantly.

Click the blue "Play" button under the poster image of the movie or TV show you want to watch. A page will appear prompting you to install Microsoft Silverlight before watching the video.

Click "Install Now" on the page. Follow the prompts that appear to install Microsoft Silverlight.

Refresh the page with the Netflix Watch Instantly streaming video player on your Internet browser. The video will begin playing.
