How to Connect a Burner & Restart the Player in Media Player 11

by Mark Rafferty

With a USB burner and Windows plug-and-play drivers you can reconnect a computer CD burner at any time. What's more, you can reconnect it without having to restart your computer, or even, most of the time, without having to close your open computer programs.

Connect the external USB burner to your computer with a USB cable. Windows will automatically recognize it.

Click "File," then "Close" in Windows Media Player if it does not automatically recognize the CD burner.

Re-open Windows Media Player. This restarts the player, building a new connection with your burner.
