How to Compress a PDF File With Adobe

Adobe Acrobat 6.0 or later has an option to reduce a PDF file size by compressing PDF. It is achieved by removing invalid links, bookmarks and discarding unnecessary document objects. Any images in the document will be also compressed. Compressing typically does not alter significantly the document appearance and quality.

Launch Adobe Acrobat.

Click the menu "File > Open." Browse your computer and open a PDF.

Click the menu "File > Reduce File Size."

Select a compatibility option (for example "Acrobat 7.0 and later") using a drop-down listbox and click "OK."

Type a new filename in the window "Save As" and click "Save."
