How to Completely Block a Number From Your Phone
By Jalisa Summerville
Call block is a call feature that lets land line or mobile phone users block or restrict incoming calls from unwanted callers. This feature also comes in handy if you receive harassing or obscene calls. Depending on your particular phone provider and call features, you can block calls from your phone's handset, online or by contacting customer service. If you want to stop unwanted calls, there are several options available to assist you.
Block a Number Directly From Your Landline or Wireless Phone
Step 1
Press the "Menu" key on your cell phone and find the "Options" or a similarly named folder. Locate the "Call Settings," "Call Block" or a similarly named feature.
Step 2
Scroll to the number that you want to block and click the "Enable" or "Save" button. Depending on your wireless provider and specific phone, the phone may prompt you to enter your security password. If you can't find your password, consult your mobile provider or cell phone manual.
Step 3
Pick up your landline phone's receiver and listen for the dial tone. Enter the designated call block code, followed by the pound (#) sign or the star (*) sign followed by the call block code. Listen for the prompts to complete and confirm the activation process.
Contact Customer Service or Access Your Online Account to Block Calls
Step 1
Contact your landline or mobile phone's customer service line to ask if they offer a call block feature online. Some companies offer monthly subscription packages where customers can block or restrict calls to or from specific numbers. You can also ask the agent to block calls from harassing callers. Some companies offer this service, while others do not.
Step 2
Go to your phone provider's website and log in to your account. Enter your 10-digit phone number and password or username and password. If this is your first time using the service, follow the onscreen directions to register your account.
