How to Close Running Apps on a Nook HD

by Serm Murmson

The Barnes & Noble Nook HD tablet runs the Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. As such, you can purchase and download countless apps from both the Nook store and the Google Play Store. Some apps have exit buttons that close the app entirely. Other apps lack these buttons and will continue running in the background until you force them to close. In order to do this, you must download a third-party task killer app that will allow you to close any running applications.

Installing a Task Manager App

Tap the Google Play Store app on your Nook home screen.

Type "task manager" or "task killer" into the search bar. Select the desired app in the search results. Advanced Task Killer Free, Advanced Task Manager-Killer and ES Task Manager are three free apps that enable you to close running apps.

Tap the "Install" button. You must also tap the "Accept" button in order to accept application permissions and begin the download process.

Managing Apps

Open your task manager app.

Select the apps that you wish to close.

Tap the "kill" button. The exact name of this button will differ depending on the app that you use.
