With your Verizon Wireless phone, you may hesitate to send a text message at times because you do not know how many you have left. Verizon Wireless offers an unlimited data plan, but if you do not subscribe to it, you are allowed a certain number of text messages to use every month. If you go beyond this number of text messages, as of 2011, you are charged an additional 20 cents per message that you send or receive. To prevent extra charges, it is possible to check the amount of text messages you have used and how many you have remaining.

Step 1

Power on your Verizon Wireless cell phone. At the main menu, press "#3282."

Step 2

Press the "Send" key. Listen to the automated message to hear how many texts you have used this month, and how many you have left to use.

Step 3

Check your text message usage from a computer if you do not have access to your cell phone. Open an Internet browser and go to the Verizon Wireless website.

Step 4

Log in to your account, click "Data" and scroll down to see your data usage, including the number of text messages used and the number remaining.
