How to Check for HP System Updates

by Olivia Emisar

Hewlett Packard computers come installed with a program that automatically updates the operating system and installed software. The time and date to download and install automated updates is preset from the factory, but computer owners can change the time and date to suit their schedules.

Owners can turn the automatic software update off and download them manually by category at their convenience. It is important to download updates that are considered "critical" in the download screen because these updates address vulnerabilities related to security issues.

Step 1

Click "Start" button.

Step 2

Select "All Programs."

Step 3

Click "HP."

Step 4

Select "HP Updates."

Step 5

Click "Next" on the welcome window.

Step 6

Select all available updates or check only the ones you want, and click "Next."

Follow the on-screen directions.
