How to Chat on a Kindle
By Andrew McClain
While the Amazon Kindle is a useful e-book reader, only the Kindle Fire doubles as a tablet, giving you full access to Web pages and features, such as Chat. You can download several apps that enable you to chat with your friends, provided you have Internet access. The Facebook app enables you to chat with Facebook friends who are online. Trillian supports chatting with anyone who has one of several IM accounts, including Google or MSN. You link your accounts to your Trillian account. WhatsApp Messenger supports chats with other WhatsApp users, no matter what platform they use. All three apps are free.
Tap the Facebook app on your Kindle Fire to open it.
Tap the "Menu" button in the top left corner.
Select the "Chat" option. You will see a list of your Facebook friends who are online.
Tap one one to start a chat session.
Go to the Google Play app store (see Resources).
Search for "Trillian."
Tap "Install" to download and install the app on your Kindle Fire. Tap on the app icon to start it.
