Changing the Language Subtitles on Netflix Instant Streaming

by Kefa Olang

Netflix enables you to stream a world of movies and TV shows in a variety of genres. Several of the videos include subtitles and audio options that can be useful if a video is in a language you don't understand. Netflix displays the subtitles and audio options for each video. If the TV show or movie supports the subtitles you want to use, you can change the language quickly and easily when the video starts playing.

1

Sign in to your Netflix account, and then open the Subtitles page to view movies and shows that include subtitles in a variety of languages (see link in Resources), or just click on "Subtitles & Captions" at the very bottom of the page.

2

Select a language from the "Choose a Language" drop-down menu to see the movies that support that specific language.

3

Scroll down the list of movies and TV shows and click the "Play" button next to the movie or TV show to watch.

4

Click the "Subtitles" button located next to the Full-screen button on the video player to view the Audio and Subtitle options.

5

Select the language to use from the "Subtitles" section. The subtitles start to appear on the video.

Tip

  • Some third-party Netflix streaming devices such as Smart TVs and Blu-Ray DVD players enable you to change subtitles. If you're using one of these devices, refer to the manual for information on changing subtitles.

Warning

  • Subtitles in other languages are not available for every TV show or movie. Available subtitles are always listed on the details page for each movie and TV show.
