How to Change the Yahoo! Toolbar

by Erika Dean

When you download Yahoo! Messenger, Yahoo! Toolbar is added to your Internet browser by default. If you want to change your Yahoo! Toolbar, it is easy to do so. You can add different buttons to the toolbar or change the order the buttons are displayed. You only need to access the Yahoo! Toolbar Settings to get started.

Sign in to your Yahoo! account using your username and password.

Click the "Toolbar Settings" button located on the Yahoo Toolbar (the button looks like a pencil) and select "Toolbar Options" from the drop-down menu that opens.

Choose settings for the search box and mail button on the toolbar by checking or unchecking the boxes next to items such as "Suggest using Search Assist" or "Show an alert on my mail button when I have new Yahoo! Mail." Click "OK" after making changes.

Click "Personal Options" to add or edit buttons and to change the toolbar layout.

Select "Add/Edit Buttons." You will be taken to a new page that displays the different buttons you can add to your Yahoo! Toolbar, such as maps, shopping and entertainment. Make your selections by checking the box next to each button option and when you are done, click "Finished."

Select "Change Toolbar Layout" to arrange the button order. You will be taken to a new page showing the current order of your buttons. Click a button you want to move and then click the up and down arrows to move the button. When you are done, click "Finished."
