How to Change an SMS Sender Name (11 Steps)

Although you cannot send anonymous SMS messages from your cell phone -- your phone number or name will show up -- you can easily send an SMS message to someone either under a different name via the Internet or anonymously. SendSMSNow allows you to send free SMS messages to any number under a different name, while you can use Textem to send SMS messages anonymously.
SendSMSNow
Step 1
Go to the SendSMSNow website. Register and create a free account, which is required to use the service. Text messages will be sent from the username you create for the account.
Step 2
Select the SMS receiver's country from the drop-down list.
Step 3
Enter the person's phone number in the designated field.
Step 4
Type the SMS message in the field provided. You will be limited to 130 characters here.
Step 5
Send the SMS. The message will be sent to the recipient.
Textem
Step 1
Go to the Textem website.
Step 2
Enter in the recipient's mobile number. You can also enter a spoof email address, if desired.
Step 3
Select the recipient's mobile carrier.
Step 4
Type your message. You will be limited to 155 characters.
Step 5
Enter in the correct Captcha code, which is used for security verification. All texts will be sent from "[email protected]."
Step 6
Check "I agree with the terms of use." Then click "Send message."
Tips
- Keep in mind that if you write offensive, violent or threatening text messages, the recipient may make a complaint to the website company. This can permanently ban you from using the website's services.
Warnings
- At the time of publication, SendSMSNow does not cover all networks. Users can often experiences delays of up to a few hours using this service.
