How to Change the Route on a Garmin Nuvi
By Alex Zang
The Garmin Nuvi is a global positioning system navigator. It allows you to type a destination, then guides you to that location. Depending on the model of Nuvi you get, you may either see a visual display or be guided by a voice telling you when to turn. Sometimes, you'll need to change the route that your Garmin Nuvi wants to take. There are two ways you can do this: either enter in the new location, or use the Garmin Nuvi's automatic detour function.
Tap "Menu." This takes you back to the main screen.
Touch "Where To" and enter the new destination.
Tap "Go." Your Garmin Nuvi will change your route so that you go through the new location before reaching your previous destination.
Tap "Menu" and select "Detour" if you want your Garmin Nuvi to change your route automatically. This helps you avoid traffic or navigate through construction zones.
