How to Change the Mouse From a PS2 to a USB
By Bill Richards
PS2 is an older mouse and keyboard connector format that is slowly being phased out in favor of the newer USB connector. The PS2 connector has a unique design: a round plug with 4 or 6 metal pins inside. A USB connector is rectangular and has metal plates that make a contact when the connector is plugged in. The only way to convert a PS2 mouse to USB is to use a converter plug.
Step 1
Purchase a PS2 to USB connector. These cost no more than $5 as of 2010.
Step 2
Plug your PS2 mouse into the female PS2 end of the PS2 to USB connector.
Plug the male USB end of the connector into a free USB slot in your computer.
