How to Change the Display on a Samsung Television
By Mindi Orth
Your Samsung remote control provides a way for you to gain access to your television’s various picture menus. From these menus, you can change your television’s display, including the overall appearance and picture size. Although the exact steps and menu options may vary depending on the age of your TV, most new, high-definition Samsung televisions contain similar menu screens, regardless of model.
Change Picture Mode
Turn on your Samsung television and press the “Tools” button your Samsung remote control. A menu appears on the screen.
Use the up or down arrow buttons to navigate to the “Picture Mode” option.
Press the right or left arrow button to navigate through the available picture options. Options include Dynamic, Standard, Movie and Entertain. Select “Dynamic” when viewing high definition in a bright environment. Select “Movie” when viewing movies in a dark environment. Select “Entertain” when connected to a computer. Select “Standard” when viewing the screen in a typical room.
Press the “Exit” button on the remote to close the Tools menu. Alternatively, you can press the “Tools” button on the remote to close the Tools menu.
Change Picture Size
Press the “Menu” button on your Samsung remote control and then use the arrow buttons to navigate to the “Picture” option. Select “Picture” by pressing the “Enter" button.
Use the up or down arrow buttons to navigate to “Picture Options,” and then press the “Enter” button. The Picture Options menu appears on the screen.
Use the up or down arrow buttons to navigate to “Size,” and then press the “Enter” button.
Use the up or down arrow buttons to navigate through the picture size options. Options include Wide, 16:9, Zoom1, Zoom2, Wide Fit and 4:3. 16:9 is the standard for high definition viewing. Select the Zoom1 option to magnify the images on the screen. Select the Zoom2 option to increase the magnification of the images on the screen. Select the “4:3” option to set the aspect ratio to 4:3. Selecting the Wide Fit option increases the aspect ratio of the screen image to fit the entire screen and selecting the Wide option adjusts the image size to the Wide standard.
Press the “Enter” button to select the desired picture size setting.
Press the “Exit” button to close the Picture Options menu.
