How to Cancel Comcast Cable

by John W. Smith

Comcast offers television service to residential and commercial locations. You can watch your favorite shows in digital format or high definition. Comcast provides you with local channels, cable channels, premium movie channels and pay-per-view events. Cable subscribers can also watch their favorite shows through a service called On Demand: you press a button on your Comcast remote to access a menu of shows and movies, most of which are free. Contact Comcast if you no longer want its cable service.

1

Call Comcast's toll-free phone number, 1-800-266-2278, and follow the prompts to speak with a customer service representative.

2

Inform the representative you wish to cancel your Comcast cable service. If you also have phone and Internet service with Comcast, you will be asked if you want to cancel these as well. The representative will put a cancellation order into her system. She will then calculate your last payment due, which will be prorated for how many days into the month it is. You must pay this to complete the cancellation of your account.

3

Return your cable equipment, such as a cable box and remote control, to a local Comcast service center. Provide the representative with a driver's license or other identification so the equipment return can be credited to your account. If you don't return this equipment, you may incur additional fees.
