Can You Wirelessly Connect to a HP 8500 Printer With Just a Computer?
By Mircea Gabriel Suciu
Wireless printing equipment is ideal for businesses, facilitating access to printers for all employees from any computer with wireless capabilities. Because such printers do not require cables, they also contribute to cleaner work environments. You do not need multiple computers to wirelessly access and install a HP 8500 printer. As long as you have a wireless router, you can use it to connect the printer and your computer to the same network. You will then be able to print documents without any cable, as long as both devices are within the signal range emitted by the router.
Connect the HP 8500 Printer to the Wireless Network
Press the "Setup" button on your printer to access the device's menu.
Use the left and right arrow buttons to navigate through your printer's menu. Select "Network", press "OK", and then choose the "Wireless Setup Wizard" option. Press "OK" again.
Select your wireless network from your list of available networks and press "OK". Enter the network password, if you have set one, to connect your printer to the network.
Install the HP 8500 Printer On Your Computer
Move your mouse to the top-right corner of your screen. Click the "Search" button.
Type "Devices and Printers" (without double quotes) and select "Devices and Printers" from the list of results to open the "Devices and Printers" feature.
Press "Add a printer" and choose "Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer" option from the wizard. Wait for Windows to load the list of available printers.
Select your HP 8500 printer from the list and click "Next" to install the device on your computer.
The steps presented above are applicable to Windows 8 and may vary with other versions of the operating system.
