Can You Cancel a PayPal Payment?
By William McCoy
PayPal is a Web-based payment system that allows you to send payments after shopping online and receive payments after selling items online. Occasionally, you may make a payment by accident or wish to cancel a recurring payment with a vendor. Both actions are simple to do and require only a few clicks of your mouse.
Log into your PayPal account once you realize you've made a payment in error and wish to cancel the payment. Visit the PayPal website and enter your email address and password. Click the "History" tab located on the main, horizontal menu.
Search for the payment you wish to cancel. Once you've located the payment in question, click "Cancel" under the "Action" icon. Confirm you wish to cancel the payment by clicking "Cancel Payment."
Search for Recurring Payment
If you've signed up for a product or service that requires a regular, recurring payment and wish to cancel it, log into your PayPal account with your email address and password. On the menu at the top of the page, click the "Profile" icon.
Cancel Recurring Payment
Once your profile has loaded, click "My Preapproved Payments." Doing so will load a list of your preapproved payments. Find the recurring payment you wish to cancel and click "Cancel Automatic Billing" beside the payment listing.
