Can I Use a PayPal Logo on My Website?

By Sophie Southern

PayPal is a website that allows you to both pay and accept payments online, and to wire money to your bank account. One of the benefits of using PayPal to sell products or accept donations on your website is that PayPal handles everything for you and you won’t have to process credit cards or sign a merchant agreement with credit card companies. Once you create a PayPal merchant account, you can include PayPal logos and buttons on your website.

PayPal offers a choice between three account types: Personal, Premier and Business. The Personal account allows you to make purchases and payments online, transfer money to your bank account and receive money through PayPal. The Premier account is similar to a Personal account in that it is intended for individuals, but it also allows you to sell products or services online. The Business account is for multi-person organizations selling products or services online.

Using PayPal

PayPal is one of the most widely accepted payment services on the Internet, allowing you to make payments through a variety of websites, including eBay. This makes PayPal a wise choice for selling online, as chances are your visitors already have a PayPal account. Premier and Business accounts give you access to PayPal’s merchant services, which allow you to accept credit card payments online, by phone or through an invoice. To open a Premier or Business merchant account on PayPal, you will be required to provide official documentation, such as verification of identity.

You may include PayPal logos on your website to let your customers know that you accept PayPal payments. PayPal offers logo images on its website; all you need to do is copy and paste the code where you want it to appear on your site. When you use a PayPal logo on your website, you agree to PayPal’s usage guidelines, which are listed on the logos page. PayPal logos only notify your customers that they can pay with PayPal; they cannot make purchases by directly clicking the logo.

PayPal also provides buttons to clients. A PayPal button allows you to accept donations and payments through a direct link to a “Proceed to Checkout” or “Buy Now" page. PayPal provides buttons on its website and will even host them for you if you don’t want to upload the button images to your website. To include PayPal buttons on your website, copy the code and paste it where you want the button to appear on your site.
