Whether you're conducting business, keeping in touch with a loved one or trying to track down a long-lost friend, international calling can be a headache if you don't know the proper dialing codes. The population of Beijing, a major city in China, exceeded 22 million people in early 2010, with a large number of non-permanent residents. To contact somone in Beijing from the United States, a specific phone code must be entered.
Dial "011," which is the number designated for all international calls originating in the United States.
Dial "86," which is China's specific country code.
Dial "10," which is the area code for Beijing, China.
Dial the six- to eight-digit telephone number of the person or business you're trying to reach in Beijing.
Wait for the call to connect.
