My Built-In Webcam on My Gateway Laptop Won't Open

If the built-in webcam on your Gateway laptop will not open, it might be because of a corrupt file or an issue with the driver. To get the webcam back to working condition, you will need to disable and then enable the webcam driver. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced computer user, disabling and enabling the webcam driver is an easy task.

Restart your Gateway computer by clicking on the "Start" menu and then "Restart."

Click on the "Start" menu and then "Control Panel" once the computer has restarted.

Click "System and Maintenance" and then "Device Manager."

Click "Continue" once the "User Account Control" dialog box opens.

Click "+," next to "Imaging Devices."

Right-click on "Gateway USB 2.0 Webcam" and click "Disable." Click "OK."

Right-click on "Gateway USB 2.0 Webcam" and click enable. Click "OK."

Restart your computer.
