How to Block Private Callers on a House Phone
By Maya Walker
Anonymous Call Rejection can be used to prevent private callers from calling your house phone. When a call is placed to your home from a blocked number, a message informs the caller that you are not accepting calls from blocked numbers. Callers must unblock their numbers and call back. Your phone does not ring for blocked calls when the feature is active. Most phone companies charge for using Anonymous Call Rejection.
Contact your home phone provider and request to add Anonymous Call Rejection to your phone plan. The customer service representative can provide you with the date the feature will be active.
Pick up your home phone and listen for the dial tone.
Press "*77" on your phone's handset.
Listen for two quick beeps and hang up the phone's handset and the feature is activated.
