How to Back Up iTunes When the iPhone is Disabled

by Stephen Lilley

If your Apple iPhone is being listed as "disabled," you can still use the Apple iTunes software to make a backup of the content in your media library. But with the iPhone disabled, the only option you have is to back up to a CD or DVD. This will create a disc that can be used to reload all of the content and settings into your library if they are deleted off the hard drive.

1

Place a blank CD or DVD into the CD/DVD burner.

2

Open iTunes by clicking two times on its desktop shortcut icon.

3

Click "File."

4

Click "Library."

5

Click "Backup to Disc." Click the icon for the blank CD or DVD in the "Backup to Disc" window and click "Back Up" to create a backup of the iTunes content.
