Adding a Facebook Like to iWeb

by Aksana Nikolai

Integration with social media networks such as Facebook and Twitter can be an effective way of growing the traffic to your website. Each time a user clicks the Facebook Like button on one your site pages, the user’s Facebook friends receive a notification on their news feeds, which helps increase your site’s reach. You can add a Facebook Like button to Web pages built in iWeb using code provided by Facebook and iWeb’s HTML Snippet feature.

Navigate to the Facebook Developers Like Button page (link in Resources).

Enter the URL of your Facebook page into the “URL to Like” field.

Deselect the box labeled “Send Button.”

Use the appropriate drop-down menus to select desired styling options for the Like button, including layout, text, fonts and color scheme.

Click “Get Code” to open the pop-up window called “Your Like Button Plugin Code.” Click on “iFrame” and copy the code you see.

Launch the iWeb page to which you want to add the Like button. Click on “HTML Snippet” in the right pane and drag it onto the area of the page where you want the Like button to appear.

Paste the code into the “HTML Snippet” window and click “Apply.” Keep in mind that you may not be able to see the Like button until you publish the changes you made to the page.
