How to Add Another Phone to Your Verizon Wireless Account
By Casey Helmick
Verizon Wireless is one of the largest cell phone providers worldwide. Verizon Wireless accounts allow customers to keep in contact with friends and family all over the world at a competitive price. Verizon Wireless uses one phone as the main account holder but other phones can be added to the plan, sharing minutes and other messaging. Setting up another phone on an existing account is an easy process that you can accomplish in a few steps.
Verizon Wireless Website
Step 1
Go to the Verizon main website from your computer (See Resources section) and select “Wireless.” From the top bar hover the mouse over “My Verizon” title. A new list of options will appear, move your mouse down to the “Sign in” option and click.
Step 2
Type in the main phone number tied to your account and then the password that was set when you first created your Verizon Wireless account. If you do not remember your password or have not set up your wireless account online you will need to contact customer support or an in-store customer service representative to assist you with setting up your account and password.
Step 3
Select “New lines of service” from this page. Select the option to “Add a new phone to your existing Verizon Wireless account” option. You will be asked if you would like to purchase a new phone from Verizon Wireless or if you have the phone you would like to add. If you select the first option you will need to pick your new phone and proceed to checkout as instructed.
Step 4
Add the phone number of the phone you wish to add to your account along with the SIM card number. Enter in any other information you might be asked which will rule out a stolen phone or phones that will not function properly on the Verizon Wireless network. Once you are finished, attempt to make a test call with the newly activated phone to make sure everything is working. If the phone isn’t working, contact customer service for further assistance.
Customer Service
Step 1
Dial customer service from the phone tied into your existing Verizon Wireless account. Most cell phones have customer service programmed on their phone as 611. The customer service number can also be found on your Verizon Wireless bills along with on the receipt of any Verizon Wireless purchases.
Step 2
Provide the Verizon Wireless customer representative with information to confirm the account and that you are the legal owner of the account. Most of the time the Verizon Wireless customer service representative will ask for the phone number, last four digits of your social security number and billing address.
Step 3
Explain to the representative that you want to add a new phone to your existing line of service and provide any information he requests. The customer service representative will walk you through the process of setting up your phone and placing a test call to make sure your phone has been successfully activated.
